Pia Saronde is a local bakery and souvenir shop situated on Jl. Sultan Botutihe, right in the heart of Gorontalo city. Its main draw is the traditional Gorontalo pastry called pia, especially the Kue Karawo and distinctive Pia Kacang Ijo Pandan that highlight local flavors. Visitors often come here to pick up these snacks as gifts — the pastries themselves are modestly sized but pack a satisfying crispness and a delicate balance between flaky crust and rich fillings like chocolate and cheese.

The shop’s atmosphere leans toward practical rather than leisurely; this is a spot where locals and travelers alike drop in for takeaway rather than lingering over a table. While there isn’t a dine-in menu available, the friendly service and competitive prices make it easy to quickly gather a variety of Gorontalo treats, including other local snacks like fish chili sauce and chips. The range here is notably comprehensive compared to other shops in town, so it’s a common stop for those wanting a one-stop shop for regional specialties.

Because the setting is mainly a bakery with souvenir items, it works best for afternoon or early evening visits when people typically shop for gifts or snacks to bring home. The size and bite-friendly nature of the Pia Saronde pastries also make them well suited for smaller appetites or as a shared treat among family and friends. This place is ideal if you want a straightforward, flavorful taste of Gorontalo’s culinary heritage in pastry form without the fuss of a sit-down experience.

The "Pia" or Gorontalo Piah (dough pastry) is one of the famous gifts from Gorontalo Province you can bring home. The price is not expensive. This Pia Saronde is one of the famous ones in Gorontalo. Service is great and friendly. The shop also sells other local snacks (chips, fish chili sauce in plastic jars, bread, etc) But unfortunately food-dine-in menu is not avail. Everyone here believes each pastry shop has their own good specialty recipe. So, trying one or two piah shops are worth to try.

Pia Saronde has something special, apart from its bigger shape than other Pia, this Pia Saronde is very crunchy with one bite when we want to taste it. The chocolate content in it also adds to the delicious taste sensation. Pia Saronde has two variants filled with cheese, namely Pia Cake filled with cheese and Pia Cake wrapped in Cheese. Meanwhile, for fans of durian fruit, Pia Saronde also prepares durian-flavored ones. Even the distinctive taste of durian and the savory pia cake dough will give its own taste to the tongue of the connoisseurs
